Disabling Protected View to Edit Excel Files

These steps are for Excel 2010, 2013, 2016, and for Excel in Microsoft Office 365.

To disable Protected View in Excel:

  1. Go to File > Options.
  2. Select Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Protected View.
  3. Clear the box for Enable Protected View for files originating from the internet.
  4. If this is an email attachment, clear the box for Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments
